General description

Erect, fast-growing, evergreen tree < 8m tall. Leaves may be irregularly-toothed when young; upper side of leaves green, undersides silvery & felted. Masses of pale yellow flower spikes (Mar-Aug).

Prefers sunny, poor, dry areas (e.g. dunes, gumland scrub, shrubland).

Spreads locally by seed fall.

Threat to well-drained sites especially sand dunes. Forms dense thickets in open areas.

Site management

Seedlings difficult to pull out. Follow up to check for seedlings.

Recommended approaches

1. Pull small seedlings (difficult to pull larger ones).
2. Cut & stump paint with Vigilant gel.
